2022 Joint SSHRC-NSERC Leaders meeting
Joint Session Summary – December 2, 2022
The third annual Joint SSHRC-NSERC Leaders meeting was held virtually from November 30 to December 2, 2022. The meeting included separate days for SSHRC Leaders (November 30) and NSERC Leaders (December 1), followed by a Joint SSHRC and NSERC meeting (December 2). The meeting was attended by 118 Leaders, or their delegates, from 82 institutions. The objective of the meeting was to engage SSHRC and NSERC Leaders on key developments related to policy, programs and research related activities.
This report summarizes the main points discussed at the Joint meeting. The Joint meeting featured a conversation with SSHRC and NSERC Presidents (Marc Fortin represented Alejandro Adem, for NSERC), an “Ask us Anything” session on tri-agency institutional programs, a session about Research Security, and a “What we Heard” session based on presentations on the Tri-Agency Grants Management Solution that were done at both the SSHRC and NSERC Leaders meetings.
At the end of the meeting, the Leaders were surveyed and were asked to indicate their overall satisfaction with the three Leaders meetings, the Joint meeting itself, and their interest to attend future Joint meetings. When responses from all Leader types were aggregated (i.e., SSHRC Leader, NSERC Leader, Joint NSERC/SSHRC Leader, or Delegate), there was good satisfaction with the overall meeting with 69% indicating very satisfied or satisfied. In addition, 55% of respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with the Joint meeting itself and 62% reported high interest in attending future Joint meetings.
